| Affordable Weighted Blankets |
Weighted blankets can be very calming to people with Autism, ADHD, Restless Leg Syndrome, Sensory Integration Disorder, and many other issues. You will find many online who make weighted blankets using sand, popcorn, dried beans, etc. These types of blankets are not washable and are a breeding ground for mold and bacteria to grow. You will also find blankets that are only weighted in the body area, this is not recommended by professionals. The blanket should be evenly weighted throughout for most benefit. We use weighted poly-pellets in our blankets, they are non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and washable. They are sewn into small squares across the blanket to keep them in place. We take extra care to make sure all seams are closed and extra-strong so the pellets cannot leak out of the blanket. |

therapy, group therapy, consultations, and support groups. Autism Team Clinicians on the Autism Spectrum Disorders team serve children at the
Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center, located at Medical Center East, South
Tower, 1215 21st Avenue South, 6th floor. The Autism Spectrum Disorders
Program at the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center (VBWC) has served
children from 18 months through adolescence who are diagnosed with or
suspected of having an Autism Spectrum Disorder since its inception in
1993. The program collaborates with the Vanderbilt Center for Child
Development (CCD), the Vanderbilt Treatment and Research Institute for
Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) and autism-related research projects
within the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research and Human Development.
